Good luck, and trust me there are thousands of people out there who feel the same frustration and anger that you might be feeling, having bought a "state of the art" video card.ĮDIT: Oh and DXdiag is not needed, you can delete it from your posts. But that is only a good option if your CPU is strong enough to handle the extra load. This option makes the game completely stutter-free, but the player models and your weapon will remain the same brightness, regarless of whether you`re in the dark or under lights.ģ.Most people use a third workaround, which involves disabling Hardware Transform and lighting in the UT2004.ini file. dynamic shadows) in the game with the help of a little program: 3D Analyze (I don`t know the link for it unforunately, but Google may be able to help you). My favourite option is to disable lighting (ie. But of course the game will be harder to play.Ģ. If you play with your weapon hidden (you can set this in the player options in-game), then the stuttering almost completely disappears. There is no solution, but there are a couple of workarounds.ġ.
#QUAKE 4 PC STUTTER SERIES#
This issue happens with some older games with Geforce 8 AND 9 series cards, in Windows XP. Hey Isaak, welcome to `The Way it`s Meant to Stutter` club! I will also be more than happy to provide any extra information you guys may need to help me out, though I think my diagnostic should take care of most of it. If anybody has any information that can help me out, feel free to speak up.
#QUAKE 4 PC STUTTER HOW TO#
Overall I think it might be an issue with my Quad-Core CPU and UT2004 might only be using one of my four cores, but I have no evidence to support that theory and I really don't know how to check of test it out.

I do no over clocking on my PC and besides UT2004 everything else runs like an Olympic sprinter going for the gold. I have gone through most of the standard ways to solve the problem, everything from defragging my hard drives to reinstalling the game but I have come up with nothing so far. I can even run Crysis at almost maximum and still play without slowdowns.īut even though I can play all these graphic intensive games at maximum settings, UT2004 seems to still have problems at any level I set it too.

#QUAKE 4 PC STUTTER FULL#
I can currently play Half Life 2, Bioshock, Team Fortress 2, Time Shift, FEAR, Call of Juarez, Doom 3, and Quake 4 at full graphic settings without stuttering or graphical lag of any kind. I have provided a full DirectX Diagnostic of my system below, and with this setup I can run many different games without issue at all. I have tried to do a fair amount of research on my problem, but so far my results are thin and I still don't know whats wrong, most of the time my searches end up at dead ends.įor the most part, UT2004 runs relatively well, but in many different maps or when combating more than one or two enemies, UT2004 starts to stutter, and I'm not entirely sure as to why. I tried my best to make sure I put it in an appropriate area.) (If you guys feel that this topic is in the wrong area please feel free to move it, I have no problems with that. I don't mean to intrude on your forum with my silly little problem, but from what I read in a few older topics with similar issues, you guys seem to know what your talking about, and everywhere else has only led to dead ends so far. Hello, I have been having some issues running UT2004 smoothly on my new PC, and hopefully I can get some help here.
